Each kid has his learning process, but that we must give him time when he faces certain obstacles, such as something very common and typical: meeting children who confuse b and d. They are two very similar consonants and therefore can lead to error. These exercises that we present to you and, which you can do at home from today, will serve as training, learning and fun.
If we pay attention to the letters of the alphabet, we will realize that certain letters have many similarities in their graphic characteristics and shapes, such as, for example, q / p, d / b, m / n, g / q, a / e, z / s, etc. Among all of them, the case that most frequently It is usually difficult to learn and initially differentiate children are the spellings d / b, whose main distinction is its change of orientation (from right to left).
Is a difficulty in identifying “d” from “b” an indication of a problem? It does not have to be a problem, if this difficulty is simply isolated and also does not affect their reading comprehension. It is natural that at first many children take time to identify and assimilate them, but if the error persists beyond the first reading stage of primary school and, in addition, it also occurs with other of the previous commented spellings, we would recommend a referral to specialists in the reading field ( speech therapists) and / or in the visual field (optometrists) to detect and work on these difficulties.

Before starting to play, we must collect some simple pictures, all of them easy to create and even find in magazines, stories or the internet.
Each of the following four sheets could correspond to a level:
- Level I. A sheet where only the two letters appear.

- Level II. A sheet where the spellings appear in syllables.

Before starting the game instructions, it is important to emphasize that these games will be especially useful if they could be supervised by adults, either a tutor or the family itself, to be able to identify and correct all possible mistakes that the little ones may make.
In any of the four commented levels, apart from the simple reading aloud and correction by the adult, all of them would allow us to make any of the following four fun game proposals:
- Back massages
As if it were a dictation, try to copy the spellings or words on the sheet on your back and vice versa, in order to feel and experience the directionality of the d or b, while the person who feels the letters has to guess it.
- Paint in two colors
By previously assigning a color to "b" and another color to "d", we can try to find all the spellings we find and paint them. Trying not to make mistakes and even using a stopwatch to calculate how fast we can be.
- Round spellings with speed
Similar to the previous proposal, we can only round one of the two spellings, avoiding making mistakes and confusing it or skipping one by mistake.
- Point the finger in the direction
We can also do speed competitions, indicating with the finger the direction of each of the spellings on the sheet, in case of error we can disqualify.
