Putting my children to bed yesterday at the 'usual time' was mission impossible. In reality, it was neither the usual time nor a day of the week like any other. It was Saturday, after a long week full of activities and homework, so they took the opportunity to go to bed much later than usual.
But today, of course, they were able to rest and sleep late. One hour less, but at least we will have the whole day for them to get used to the new schedule and thus, when the week begins, they will already be adapted to the time change.
Mealtime was not easy either. They got hungry before their time, among other things because they hardly ate dinner, or rather they ate sweets for dinner, and they made us have a crazy day ... because they were more restless and thugs than usual, testing our patience with their behavior.
Although some people do not notice it, others, especially the elderly and children, feel more schedule change. Hereinafter it will dawn an hour later and, in the afternoon, we will gain an hour of light. With the new schedule there will be more opportunities to play sports, go for a walk or be in the park until dinner time.
The time change can cause hormonal changes, have effects on the central nervous system and on appetite, promote states of irritability or depression and cause sleep disturbances that can lead to episodes of insomnia or fatigue in the morning.
In general, the body is prepared to assume these imbalances produced by the change in the sleep schedule and the light cycle during the day.
The little disorders last no more than a week. So, during this week, be patient, if you notice that your child has a small attention deficit, is more restless and disruptive than usual, undergoes changes in his diet and has trouble falling asleep at night and Wake up in the morning. It will soon pass. We still have a month to get used to the idea that it will still be day at nine at night.
